Homalomena rhizome extract, methyl salicylate, ethanol, menthol, para oil, hydrogenated Castor Oil, polysorbate 80 (Tween 80), Cinnamon essential oil, Ocimum essential oil, and other ingredients.
Menthol: Menthol produces a cooling sensation at the application site, providing a soothing and pleasant sensation and helping to temporarily relieve localized pain. There is relatively strong evidence supporting its mechanism of action: menthol activates TRPM8 receptors on sensory neurons, thereby producing a cooling sensation. It may also exert a local analgesic effect through a counter-irritant mechanism. [1][2]
Methyl salicylate: Methyl salicylate produces a warm or hot sensation at the application site and may provide topical analgesic effects through a stimulatory/counter-irritant mechanism. Human studies have shown that topical methyl salicylate can induce short-term cutaneous vasodilation, which may contribute to the sensation of warmth at the application site. The warming sensation may promote relaxation and help temporarily relieve muscle pain and soreness. [2]
Homalomena (Homalomena occulta): Homalomena occulta contains various bioactive compounds, including sesquiterpenoids. Experimental studies have shown that certain compounds isolated from the rhizomes may modulate inflammatory responses, including inhibition of COX-2 expression and PGE2 production. These findings provide a scientific basis for investigating its potential supportive role in the care of muscles and joints. [3]
Cinnamon essential oil: Cinnamon essential oil contains numerous bioactive compounds, among which cinnamaldehyde is generally a major constituent. Experimental studies have demonstrated antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of cinnamon essential oil and cinnamaldehyde through effects on various inflammatory mediators and signaling pathways. Cinnamaldehyde has also been associated with a stimulatory and warming sensation upon skin contact. [4]
Ocimum essential oil: Holy basil essential oil contains various bioactive compounds, including eugenol, thymol, and β-caryophyllene, among others. Experimental studies have reported antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of the essential oil and its constituents. [5]
DATHAPU Skin-Warming Solution is a topical preparation that produces a cooling sensation followed by warmth at the application site, helping promote relaxation and providing temporary relief from muscle pain and soreness.
The product is intended for topical use in the following situations:
The product may be used in combination with gentle massage to promote relaxation and a pleasant sensation at the application site.
The supportive analgesic effect of the preparation can be understood primarily through peripheral sensory modulation and counter-irritation, as follows:
1. Role of menthol:
Menthol activates TRPM8 receptors on peripheral sensory neurons, producing a cooling sensation and contributing to modulation of pain perception at the application site.
2. Role of methyl salicylate:
Methyl salicylate produces a thermal sensation and induces short-term changes in cutaneous microcirculation, contributing to a warm or hot sensation at the application site.
3. Contribution of herbal and essential-oil ingredients:
The formulation is further supported by the potential anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of certain herbal ingredients, including Homalomena occulta, cinnamon essential oil, and holy basil essential oil.
Through these combined effects, the preparation may help temporarily relieve pain, soreness, and discomfort in the muscles and joints.
